See, this is what I was talking about with the Cartesian doubt thing. You're requiring a level of proof you would not require anywhere else (and it is something inherently unprovable). I don't require 100% proof to draw the conclusion that animals suffer from the observable fact that they act like they suffer, plus the fact that their brains are very similar to mine. You don't really know that babies suffer either, do you. Hell, you don't even know that other adult human beings suffer. You could be the only one, a special mutant.
