Even though I think *The Nation* is as left-wing as a popular mainstream
magazine can be in the United States in this era, I largely agree with your
analysis of that article.

Norman Birnbaum (the piece's author) I know (knew) as a Marxist
intellectual, I'm not sure whether he had an ideological shift or if this
article misrepresented him.
