Well, uhm, welcome to the anarchist, autonomist Marxist, and left-libertarian/libertarian socialist view of Trotsky and Lenin, a la Emma Goldman's _My Disillusionment in Russia_, Voline's _The Unknown Revolution_, Nestor Makhno (all 3 firsthand witnesses, if it matters), and, yeah, Noam Chomsky - and I believe Chomsky asks, Who is the real Trotsky? the one writing on the sidelines while out of power, or the one who was actually in power and crushed Kronstadt? Well, history already is already there, so we know.

Yep, Chomsky is saying they were gangsters. I happen to agree. Of course, you don't need Chomsky. Go to firsthand witnesses like Emma Goldman if you wish.
