For gaming, consoles are infinitely superior to PCs. Far cheaper, hassle-free, sturdy build (well, I'd be careful about the Xbox360, but Sony and Nintendo's stuff is rocksolid), no bootup, no viruses, graphics about as good as high-end PCs.

Sure, a few people can custom-build a high-end gaming rig, just like a few people can play Olympic-level sports. But for gaming as a plebian, democratic art-form, there's no substitute for consoles.
