A (hopefully final) comment. The issue is not about free will or the ultimate source of action. The issue is about the notion, expressed by Miles, that there is something particularly capitalist in the notion that "it's your fault you are poor."

Ancient and Medieval literature are full of examples of people who are suffering because they made bad choices. Hell is full of them.
