The right think tank industrial complex does not control the polling industry.

The whole point of Langer's review is that poll responses vary widely depending on the wording. If it were some sort of locked-down conspiracy, like you say, then the polls would all say the same thing, no? The public is deeply confused. But it would also be wrong to deny the deep conservative streak in American "common sense." The inscos and the right tapped into a pre-existing condition - they didn't create it.
