SA comments that the problem with the stimulus bill passing is politics, and
the comment is accurate: The dems need 60 votes in the Senate and they do
not have them. As happened with many a proposal with the Congress after the
2006 elections, the only way to get passage is to cave into republican
demands--or else there is no bill. Employee free Choice never had a chance was one
victim of McConnell's command of the repub. caucus. Unless there is pressure of
an intense kind brought upon moderate repubs to back the bill what emerges
as legislation is not going to do the trick. And, of course, I agree that the
amount is too smal as it is.
