I am more and more convinced that critiques of the Republican Party, Critiques of Neo-Conservatism, Critiques of the Bush Administration, savaging of the likes of Gramm (see Chuck G & Doug in the Dustup thread) are giving aid and comfort to the enemy, the core ruling establishment. Their focus is profoundly wrong.

The present course of the U.S. government, murderous aggression abroad and a systematic attack on the living standards of large proportions of the u.s. populace, is going to be intensified by the incoming administration, but intensified in ways that will give a "progressive' sound to that attack, thus giving liberals and non-activist leftists&socialists a cover for their continuing abstemption from the main, in fact the ONLY serious task of leftists in the u.s. today: building a left movment, or the foundatins for a left movement, that can at the very least have a cautioning impact on u.s. policy at home and abroad. Anything not focused in that way is _really_ just preaching to the choir, and not only preaching to the choir but reassuring that choir that they are righty to continue to huddle in their little corners crooning to themselves about those big bad conservatives and ignoring the ravaging effect on the human future of the liberal establishment which, really, has never lost its grip on power.
