Wow, that is pretty amazing. I had never heard of this series ("The Unknown War").

The BBC does have its own 4-part series "War of the Century: Hitler vs. Stalin" that is dedicated solely to the Eastern Front & which has some amazing interviews with surviving German and Russian fighters, many of whom seem only begrudgingly apologetic -- if at all -- for anything ghastly they might have done during the war (and they are often asked point blank by the interviewer about rapes, killing civilians, shooting cowards in their own ranks, etc.).

Additionally, the "Warlords" 2 x DVD set's 1st episode, "Hitler vs. Stalin," goes into much detail about the Nazi-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact (or the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact) as well as Russia's land grabs in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Poland, Bessarabia, & Bukovina (in Romania), all of which happened before the Germans attacked the USSR. It doesn't flatter either side very much.

The British "Warlords: Hitler versus Stalin" episode is on YouTube in its entirety: <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSPbKVCaMUk>
