I have been saying for several yaars that DP actions (and the arguments of DP supporters) come not from timidity, not from opportunism, not from political stupidity, but from the core convictions of DP leadership and DP intellectuals. They are principled and courageous and willing to suffer electoral defeat rather than betray those principles.
Of course Summers (and Obama) believes it too.
