I think that Lenin would have disputed that claim in regards to the class position of attorneys in early 20th century Russia. A Russian lawyer of that period would have been indisputably been regarded as being petit bourgeois. That's not to deny that there has been a proletarianization of the professions since that time - a development that Marx foresaw in the Manifesto, but which didn't really get underway until the late 20th century.

Many members of one of my former unions, the National Organization of Legal Services Workers (UAW Local 2320), as well as pretty much all of our sister local, the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys (UAW Local 2325), would dispute any claim that their profession excludes them from the working class.
