Many members of one of my former unions, the National Organization of Legal Services Workers (UAW Local 2320), as well as pretty much all of our sister local, the Association of Legal Aid Attorneys (UAW Local 2325), would dispute any claim that their profession excludes them from the working class.

Salaried workers with limited or no managerial authority comprise the great majority of the working class in modern service economies. Democratic capitalist states have acknowledged their status as workers by accepting their right to form and join unions, as indicated in the example cited by Joseph.
