I'm writing a little screed on the titanic (God of War pun intended)
transformation of the world semi-periphery from 1999-2009, still need
another week or so, but wanted to share three juicy tidbits as food for
thought:

1. Total foreign exchange reserves + sovereign wealth funds of developing
nations, 1999: $1.1 trillion.

2. Total forex + SWFs of developing nations, 2009: $6.3 trillion.

3. Total annual revenue of all state-owned energy companies of the
semiperiphery and periphery in 2008: at least $1.7 trillion (possibly as
high as $1.8 trillion).
