When I was teaching at SUNY Plattsburg, 1987-1989, all my students 
confused plurals with possessives.

Five years earlier, when was teaching at UC Berkeley and Univ. of Santa 
Clara, no one was making this mistake.

Granted, the students at UCB were higher caliber; but the ones at U of S 
C, were comparable to the SUNY students.
