The discussion on this thread has gone off the tracks some, regrettable since _all_ parties to it are, fundamentally, friends. To be more specific, it has not in the least changed my high estimation of shag and most of her posts. Without her the list would lose half its attraction for me. But this time she has picked up a book of no intellectual worth (in fact shag writes a dozen posts a month with more content than Kennelly could get into 10 books). Moreover, I think she (Kennelly is a liar, that she has spread pure scuttlebutt as though it had some legitimate source. This happens to everyone at times; they fall for some book that is not worthy of them. Kennelly announces that language is not a thing; indeed it is not. There is no evidence that Kennelly knows what it is or what it would actually mean to speak of its "evolution." In a freshman theme that would be marked as "sloppy diction."
