[lbo-talk] Honduras--The Big Lie

Why has nobody pointed out the Big Lie in all the MSM coverage of the Honduran coup? From The Daily Show to the Wall Street Journal they all say that Zelaya "wanted to change the Honduran Constitution to allow him to run for reelection." But the fact, undenied by anybody, is that Zelaya wants to hold a referendum on whether a Constituent Assembly should be elected next November *at the same election when his successor as president is to be elected*. So, if Zelaya eventually gets everything he wants in the way of a new constitution he would still leave office, and his elected successor would take office, in January 2010. Long before a Constituent Assembly could even be elected, let alone write a new constitution, have it ratified by referendum, and put into effect.

The reelection of Zelaya is thus impossible. Yet the MSM goes on lying.
