[lbo-talk] Evangelicals at a crossroads as Dobson resigns

Most of the mega churches are led by chaismatic leaders who when they retire their chruches rapidly decline. One of the reasons is that they get their members from raiding other churches instead of converting new ones (people are attracted to the leaders and not to the church). The Southern Baptists have failed to meet their new member quotas for several years now. I dont think we need to fear those who are into the Quiverful nonsense. They will have large families and most of the kids will rebel. Its a truism to say the wildest kids are the preachers kids.

Is this really the case? I keep thinking of these clips of young evangelicals at mega-church rock-n-roll services and think they are reproducing themselves quite nicely. But maybe they are mostly just religious, instead of religious right? ___________________________________ http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/mailman/listinfo/lbo-talk
