thanks to everyone for helpful comments about why hasidic and orthodox
jews don't carry umbrellas. and i like that way of thinking about it,
Michael: hasidic jews just do it 13 times more than necessary which
explains why no one is carrying on umbrella on trips to the temple on
non-sabbath days. i suppose, for them, every day is sabbath? i really must
get one of those books out about jasidism so I can better understand some
of my neighbors.
