Oh sorry, I think there's a problem of definition here. I'm using the term
"violence" in a cultural sense as in "an unjust or unwarranted exertion of
force or power, as against rights or laws: to take over a government by
violence " and not in a physical sense as in "rough or injurious physical
force, action, or treatment: to die by violence. ".
Of course, they're not mutually exclusive, but I'm more interested in how
our socialisation processes have developed (degenerated?). I thought this
was implied as this is what all of Foucault's work studies. Its a question
of ideas and representations as much as cops-with-sticks and SS men.
