It's certainly not how I took the question.

But what does it mean for radical left politics? It means there's a relatively large base with sympathetic opinions that repeatedly votes for candidates who act otherwise once in office, and yet they keep voting for them (and even issuing apologias for them). It really wouldn't be breaking any new ground to muse on that contradiction, would it?
