This was my point all along, and I really don't understand what the resistance is to what seems to be an obvious fact -- unless your standard Slovene academic has been translated into 20 languages is known throughout the world. Zizek is actually the ONLY Eastern European academic I can think of who has been translated into 20 languages and is known throughout the world, which makes him not just an outlier, but unique. What I was trying to do was point out the reasons for this uniqueness, which lie in more than Zizek just being really smart (which he is).

Well, uh, anyone who's been translated into 20 languages and is known throughout the world is an outlier, aren't they? This seems awfully basic. ___________________________________ http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/mailman/listinfo/lbo-talk
