[lbo-talk] Materialism is a form of idealism

in classical physics there is energy of motion (kinetic) and also potential energy (of position, and one can think of einstein's rest mass (energy) as a kind of potential energy).   so matter has a mode of existance as non-kinetic 'energy' which is positional, or spatial, including internal or hidden degrees of freedom (such as the hidden spatial dimensions of string theory, which make up rest mass.  there seem to be some pretty good ideas around which are unpopular which suggest, however, this entire picture is wrong----all that is, is data mining, so choose your reality---you've been framed ).     i am not sure whether philosophy really has mushc to say on this (which is why i am skeptical of people like badiou, though even godel went into metaphysics, as do others (wheeler, wigner,bohm...)).

Without energy is doesn't 'matter'. Energy trumps matter.

^^^^^^^ CB: There is nothing but matter, and its mode of existence is motion (energy). ___________________________________ http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/mailman/listinfo/lbo-talk
