Nothing really wrong about it in a general sense; might as well run the numbers.  But it would be like if I heard that Stiglitz and Sen (both in the ivies) were awarded the noble prize, for the discovery of north america, and no mention was made of say, columbus, or nordics, or even africans, or indigenous americans.  and, then the economist wrote an article on this, informing their sophisticated readership about this discovery----its good to stay informed, amidst finding your stock broker, vacation distination, choice of wine and our' doeveres.   also, sen and stiglitz both acrtuallty have well paid jobs, and both got that nobel, and probably have grants, bnook contracts, subsidized travel, and big cv's.   Charles tilly discovered 'opportunity hoarding' (he applied it to make sure it wasn't wack, and hence knew it was truth and beauty, a scientific fact).   to be uncharitable, this is what these people are doing, with crocodile tears along the way for the plight of those whose numbers they crunch.     (same likely could be said of many of the abolitionists, and even civil rights leaders.)   realistically, like Obama they are playing the only game they believe in and may garner some wins as a result.   it does seem to be a measure of cultural illiteracy that such a question even needs to be asked at all or an article written in the economist.     perthaps somewhere in outer space some intellectual (a maN Who works with ideas, like rush limbaugh)  is just now discovering north america too.   or learning to talk for the first time.

I don't see anything on this having been posted, recently. Apologies if I missed it, but I'm curious for responses from this group. http://www.economist.com/displaystory.cfm?story_id=14447939&fsrc=nwl
