But sometimes meds do help. Someone close to me was diagnosed bipolar, then stopped taking her meds because she said she didn't need them. She ended up homeless and was clinically diagnosed as psychotic. She got back on the meds after an intervention and has stayed there.
Today, 5 years later, she's stable, newly and happily married, with a good job. She would not be that way without her meds.
