For what it's worth, that isn't accurate. The judge engineered the deal and then reneged due to pressure from the press. He also attempted to orchestrate the statements and motions offered by both the defense and prosecution during the trial. Polanski's act was reprehensible, but the court proceedings were a fucking joke.
