I don't recall, based on reading bound copies from the period (I'm not that 
old), The Nation being this smitten with LBJ, who at least signed the Civil 
Rights bill into law. Obama is worse domestically than LBJ, though not quite 
as murderous overseas -- yet. When you want the imperial manager to succeed, 
which is one of The Nation's main concerns, then all options and apologies 
are on the table.
