"You little MTV-Generation piece of shit!"- Ian MacKaye, Fugazi.

This is an audio compilation of the best of the Fugazi vs. audience confrontations, legendary stuff from the 1990s:

Fugazi (1987-2002) were once called "the Gang of Four of the 1990s."

Recently a spate of incredibly-made audio-visual quality vids of this leftist post-punk/hardcore band have been flooded onto YouTube from that time period.

For ex., here is but one of many : <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygmr7T361MY>

Fugazi were also renowned (even maligned) for stopping songs in mid-song to confront individual, jock-y, douche-y, unduly aggressive, etc., audience members -- and, if need be, personally escorting the troublesome fans out of the show while refunding their admission price personally (which was always USD $5-6, from their own pockets).

I saw Fugazi live twice and saw this happen once. It was somehow refreshing and amazing to see it happen, as at that time Fugazi were dealing with douchebags who were coming to their shows post-Nirvana alt-rock explosion ("let's go to Fugazi and slam dance and be aggro!!!")

After watching tons of Stone Temple Pilots, Candlebox, Alice in Chains, etc., vids on MTV. - those guys began coming to Fugazi shows really not clued in. To anything. Whereas Fugazi was a band who was a sort of a super-group of 80s hardcore punk stalwarts (Minor Threat, Rites of Spring, Embrace, One Lsst Wish, etc., etc.), who refused to put up with weird trendy MTV shit.

Anyway: It's kind of hilarious. But, damn - you gotta love 'em.

-B.
