The only times polls matter and are oft cited in the mainstream press is 
when they accord with the ruling class agenda; otherwise, they are never 
mentioned.

Also, I keep meaning to write, Silone's "Fontamara" is a great study of 
the Tea Party phenomenon in depression-era Italy. A magnificent (and 
very short) book.
