Really? Or is it just because you have to live it immediately that it seems so bad? Or are you sure you're not speaking aesthetically. There are some very very ugly things going on in Italy, France, and China, to name a few countries that come to mind quickly, especially if you are a migrant, provincial, or ethnic minority.
