A cynic might argue that all systems, social or otherwise, operate independently of human will, and that it is precisely in the delusion that the universe can be made dependent on human will that deification of humanity consists.

It's worth acknowledging that there is a counterview - that capitalism operates independently of human will (to the extent that it does) not because it's capitalism but because there's a large-scale division of labor. So that any society with a large-scale division of labor will find itself vulnerable to processes independent of human will.
