"Founding Fathers revolutionary fight for democracy" is meant to be taken as a given truth. He opposes the re-enactment of a real fight for democracy (ff) with a sham fight for democracy (tea-baggers). So either you buy the fact that the Founding Fathers led a revolutionary fight for democracy (shaky foundation) or the whole comparison founders.
