We should also keep in mind that it has an enabler in the form of Uncle Sam, who is capable and willing to shield Israel from the worst of any fallout that may come from pulling stunts like the commando raid on the flotilla. Some people here I think have forgotten that Israel has suffered worse PR disasters in the past (for example the 1982 invasion of Lebanon) and has always been able to recover from them with the aid of Uncle Sam. As Carrol has pointed out, Israel is not likely to mend its ways unless it is coerced into doing so by other powers that are capable of physically threatening it.
