There was an interesting man-bites-dog factoid in one of today's NYT editorials:

<begin excerpt>
New York needs a strong labor law like Arizona's. Arizona is rightly
notorious for its abusive anti-immigrant law. But its labor law
seriously penalizes employers who retaliate against outspoken workers,
and it provides confidentiality for whistleblowers and faster, bigger
damages for employers who ignore wage-theft judgments.

This was totally news to me. Does anyone know anything about it? And do the two opposite seeming laws have any connection? For example, did resentment of employers against getting brought up on charges provide some of the fuel for the backlash? Or perhaps there are two completely separate establishment factions fighting it out in Arizona and those of us outside are only conscious of one?
