That sort of thing convinces me that the election of Obama was perhaps one of the worst things ever to happen to progressive politics in the US. Ever since he was elected, most American progressives have been almost completely immobilized, even as Obama continues many of the Bush era policies. If McCain had been elected, I doubt that things would be quite so bad. And does anyone here think that the policies of a McCain administration would have been that much different from Obama's
