Is it just me, or is the poll's definition of middle class as houshold income ranging from $35,000 - $100,000 absurdly broad? Isn't median US household income something like $52,000 per year? $35,000 as the starting point of the lower middle class seems about right, but household making $70 or $75,000 per year and up would seem to be solidly in the upper reaches of the income distribution, no?
