To call them unprecedented reflects profound misunderstanding of the fundamental nature of capitalism -- its constant change. Hence in a superficial sense _all_ events in capitalism are unprecedented, but more fundamentally, NOTHING that happens is unprecedented. I repeat. These are quite run-of-the-mill times in the short history of capitalism. All sorts of terrible things are always happening. Remember the starvation imposed on millions in India by English textiles. It is really terribly parochial and ahistorical to see things as significantly different at this time. Capitalism is always different and always the same.
