A further point. There is NO relationship between a person's
intelligence and her abaislity either to read or to write. Moreover,
there is NO relationshp between a person's mastery of language (speaking
and listening) and that person's ability to write. In principle, the
author of the Iliad might have been someone who could not have passed a
freshman comp class -- that is, it is in princip;e possible for someone
to be the greatest poet or philosopher in a given language but be unable
to write a literate paper.
