By explicitly capitalizing the growing public recognition there's "not a dime's worth of difference" between the two parties and putting there money where they mouth is by going after incumbents of both parties.* Whereas the typical left-liberal answer in light of the same fact is, "sure, the Dems suck too...but shut up and vote Democrat!" Of course if the TP vanguard succeed they will probably create something nefarious and not fundamentally different than what exists now; but at least they've identified a potentially very effective way to connect with constituents.
