It won it from the landed aristocracy and has retained the title against the working class for well beyond that, suffering only temporarily losses in the Soviet Union, China, and in some smaller countries in the 20th century. :)

But you're right, there has been over the past three decades a qualitative decline in class struggle in the West as the economic and political weight of the organized industrial proletariat, which carried the struggle on behalf of the working class, has shrunk dramatically owing to tech change and the migration of capital to new zones of exploitation in the developing world.
