Oh, the whole filibuster issue is a total red herring, a bunch of archaic Senate rules which could get tossed out the next time the Senate meets.

I'm with Carrol on this one: the Dems are the creatures of Empire, totally corrupted by its (at this point increasingly mythical) power, and therefore the enemy. There are times when it's necessary to pull the lever for a Dem, especially on the state level.

But the US is going through its own version of the Soviet collapse. Lost wars, internal rot, total economic dysfunction... that said, the US bubbleklatura has one world-historical achievement to its credit. It has made the Soviet nomenklatura look positively competent.
