"Previous research has identified a connection between a variant of DRD4 and novelty-seeking behavior. This behavior has previously been associated with personality traits related to political liberalism, the investigators noted."

^^^^^ CB:  I bet their argument that  "liberal voters" are characterized by more "novelty seeking behavior" than "conservative voters" is not proven, full of holes.

For example,  liberals want to preserve Social Security. Conservatives want a novel set up without it.

^^^^^^^ Wojtek: Another point - cognitive conservatives are not necessarily limited to the political right. There are also on the political left. They tend to be lumped together with liberals because they typically stay in the same political encampment - but they have more in common with the conservatives on the other side of the front line than with the liberals in their own camp. David Horowitz is a case in point.

^^^^ CB: This statement is pretty much in irreconcilable contradiction with the study cited to start this thread. If people without the alleged gene for liberalism that the study talks about are on the left or liberal, that destroys their whole correlation between gene and political behavior. If what you say is true the study's claim is false
