The Williams Institute has done studies in the past that have sought to challenge the myth of LGBT urban white affluence with a goal towards increasing support for pro-LGBT legislature and funding. It's an admirable aim on the surface but I'm wary about how these studies plug into the general goals of the LGBT non-profit/foundation complex which is increasingly becoming as mandarin as the model it seeks to emulate.
