That's not ad hominem - and surely less so than the "Yalie" crack. For most people, college is a good experience. Higher ed is full of people who take their jobs seriously and do them pretty well. Yeah, I know about tedium and conformity and all those other critiques of the thing, and some of it is true. But your cynicism about how everything sucks - though somehow, despite all that, you emerged wondrously smart and worldly-wise - is one-dimensional.
