I especially like his film reviews. There are so many good films coming out that I use Proyect's reviews as a cultural filter. Helps me to decide what to watch.

Sure, I agree, but the whole piece is really about rejecting "Leninism" as its commonly understood by most cadre groups. The point Louis is making is that Lenin was an advocate of building socialist mass parties oriented to the model of the pre-WWI SPD. Even keeping in mind the changes in the nature of working class life, this still strikes me as an eminently reasonable and desireable goal.
