Detroit—Efforts to end the four-month-old strike at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra have reached a critical juncture, with cancellation of the rest of the season a possibility if no settlement is reached this week.

On Tuesday, citing progress in negotiations, DSO officials e-mailed what they call their final offer to the musicians, with a request that members vote on it by the end of business today.
