Doug,

Shamir violated one of the very narrow conditions used by Neumann for defining antisemitism--the blood libel.

Neumann:

"Undoubtedly there is genuine antisemitism in the Arab world: the distribution of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the myths about stealing the blood of gentile babies."

The latter being the blood libel--the use of blood from non-Jewish children to make matzas or in other ritual uses.

>From letter by Ali Abunimah & Hussein Ibish condemning Shamir as an
antisemite:

"3) On March 30, the Jerusalem Post published an op/ed that reported: "Two weeks ago, Russian-language journalist Israel Shamir told a largely Jewish audience: 'Jews only exist to drip the blood of Palestinian children into their matzas.'" ("The Jewish student - a minnow among sharks," March 30, 2001)

Marv already pointed this out.
