A supposed shift of opinion of this magnitude is simply inconceivable without some major cause, yet episodes of horrific firearms violence have continued to occur at an increasing pace and that can only increase sentiment in favor of gun control. The only conceivable explanations are massive media brainwashing and/or pushpolling by Gallup. In neither case does the "will of the majority of the American people" have anything to do with it.
