As I understand it, there's no consensus among historians on the real responsibility for the Reichstag Fire, in spite of a general agreement that it was set by a mentally-disturbed Marinus van der Lubbe. It was, as I said, a crime perpetrated by a crazy person.

But the point is how it was used. And the question for us is how the Tucson shootings - arguably a greater crime, in that more people were killed and wounded - are being employed politically.
