No it wasn't. It was about a dispute about taste. It asserted Dennis's preferences in country music didn't count as much as lbo's because Dennis hasn't been a sheep farmer. Which is an absurd and obsolete understanding of country music. Or any other kind of music. Or any other kind of culture.
Dennis has been too kind to mention that he knows McMurtrey personally and actually has quite a lot of right to his opinion if one wanted to play slapdick with credentials. He's a serious scholar and lover of all sorts of music.
When Dennis said "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" lbo -- and you -- obtusely and condescendingly interpreted it as not knowing how ranchers help sheep give birth. It was like something out of Pudd'nhead Wilson. And it's been downhill ever since.
We in the bleachers assumed this would soon peter out. But lbo is as tireless as he is obtuse and we in the stands have finally reached the snapping point. We want him to know if he's playing to the stands he's been an extravagant failure. We're not cheering him. We're rolling our eyes in mockery.
