CB: LOL. The womb is a natural environment. What r u talking about ? Geez. Get a clue , bro. ___________________________________

Sigh. Well, there is the natural environment of the mother who is addicted to heroin, and the natural enviornment of the mother who is not, and the natural enviornment of the mother who is already taking care of seven kids, and the natural enviornment of the mother who is working in a toxic motherboard assembly plant, and the natural environment of the mother who....

Get it?

Joanna

^^^^^ CB; Sigh back at u. Sociality is human natural, an essential ( in the postmodern vein) part of humans. You seem to be using "natural environment" sarcastically or something, U shouldn't . The environments u list r _natural_ , material, not just symbolic environments. Especially in the mammalian womb of humans, there is an identity of nature and culture with the natural or material aspect at its height. The fetus doesn't apprehend or receive the symbolic (non-natural) dimension of heroin, seven kids, toxic manufacture chemicals until after it becomes a baby or even child. While it's a fetus, it''s the physico-chemical dimensions of these that most impact it . The soical significance of the mother being pregnant with seven kids does not get through to the being until after its born. Before that it is mostly the natural aspects of the seven kids that get through. It is precisely the cultural or historical meaning , semantics, of those seven kids' voices that does not get through to the fetus. It's more like what other mammal fetuses experience, the voices of seven little kittens for a cat fetus , or bear cubs for a bear fetus. Or the cat mother or bear mother being tired from caring for them.

I'm saying a human mother singing to her fetus is _essential human nature_ or essential human mammal. Get that ?

Hey , even sperm is impacted by the natural environment of the father, and the eggs of the mother r , too. Why do stop at the fetus. Go back further. Genes are impacted by the environment of the organism.

How about this ? Crick ( or Watson) was taking LSD when he discovered DNA . Think about that as far as the relationship between an organism' genes and an organism's environment.

What is ur discomfort with using "natural" for all u discuss above ? The fetus's social environment is not unnatural. It's not anatural. Maybe somewhat supernatural.
